Cao Guimarães is a brazilian artist and filmmaker. Guimarães’ work is inscribed in a hybrid place, between plastic arts and documentary cinema. Self-taught, he internalizes the technical issues of the old equipment that he uses in his works, such as Super-8 and 16mm cameras. He also incorporates conceptual issues, when educating with avant-garde audiovisual repertoire, art and literature exhibitions. Without resorting to the pre-established script, he guides his creative process with propositions or suggestions. By opening space for chance in the capture of images, he relies on the assembly to reconstruct, with the soundtrack, realities that dilate the perception through cinematographic time.
