Consuelo Manrique

Consuelo Marique

Consuelo continues to think about women affected by war. The pain and the slow process of healing and forgiving, mending their wounds with golden thread, weaving messages into an illegible language that comes close to the delicate texture of lace. The presence of lace that belonged to her weeding dress, which are now sewn into the canvas and covered in a different shade of red that, unlike ever before, evokes blood.

Consuelo has come to name her own, perhaps without even noticing, she speaks of pain and healing.
