CHOREOGRAPHIES OF THE IMPOSSIBLE 35TH SÃO PAULO BIENNIAL 2023.

‘Choreographies of the impossible’, emerges as an invitation to radical imagination about the unknown or even about the impossible. Takes dance as a departure point to address decolonisation, environmentalism and resistance against oppressive political frameworks. It is the biennial’s most diverse edition to date, with a predominant focus on artists from the so-called “Global South” including more than 1,000 works by 121 artists of whom more than 80% are non-white.
As a curatorial proposal Choreographies of the Impossible enunciates a space for experimentation – open to dances of the unimaginable – that embodies movements capable of transforming the apparently non-existent into the existing.
This idea of choreography is based on the enigmatic nature of the artistic fact and, thus, on everything that is neither worn out nor evident but rather on what can be named as secret or as the infinite. The Biennial which takes place from september 6 to december 10 in São Paulo
